I'd hang from a tree if you were the rope.
I'd drown in the bath if you were my soap.
If you were a sword, on your blade I'd be impaled.
If you were iron bars, behind you I'd be jailed.
I'd lie down on the tracks if you were the oncoming train.
If you were lightning I'd stand out in the rain.
If you were the Holocaust, I'd be a Jew.
I'd be the Twin Towers if those airplanes were you.
I'd smoke forty a day if you were cancer of the lung.
If you were a lifetime of silence I'd tear out my tongue.
I'd throw myself from a cliff if you were the rock I would land on.
I'd skip through your minefield because you're all I need to stand on.
I'd never inhale if I'd be taking your breath.
If you can't be my life you'll at least be my death.
