As a teenager, I live amongst mindless drones who find the concept of world issues too enigmatic to grasp. It's as if they're living as subterranean beings; unaware of and asleep to what's going on above the surface of their safe and routine habitats.
They find themselves stuck on perverse issues, such as "who said what about who doing what with who last weekend." Their idea of being audacious is to get blonde streaks through their hair. Their idea of being unique is to wear knee-high socks with skulls on them and acquire a taste for certain genres of music, art and clothing that they believe others dislike.
Simple minds talk about people
Smart minds talk about events
Great minds talk about ideas
The teenage minds of modern-day society are so simple that I would not be surprised by post-humous jokes.
Discussions about things such as philosophy and current affairs are considered boring and frivulous. The reality of what is really going on in the world is apparently too opressive for today's youth, who would rather engage in a conversation about the negative traits of other people's bodies and personalities. They are as drunk on denial as the rest of the world is drunk on power.
And they will never be sobered with genuine integrity and intelligence as long as people continue to judge the opinions and personal theories of others.
Vituperative comments against religion, race, gender and sexual orientation are preventing society from learning acceptance and understanding of life. Everyone has been struck done by the fear of being rejected, and so keep their individuality hidden. Eventually, they hide it so well that it disappears completely. But the fear remains, and obstructs any of their efforts to regain sight of who they are.
So don't live to impress, and do not delude yourself from reality.
Now is the time to stop texting your pathetic gossip, and start taking action against the things slowing our world down.

Why do humans, as a race, feel the need the categorise everything? Animals are divided into species and sub species, why can't a green from be called a green frog? More troublesome is our need to categorise ourselves; we humans are split into races by our skin colour and genetics, into nationalities by geographical and political means and into classes by our wealth and power status.
This is also seen on a more concentrated level with the need to file everyone into a genre through the way they behave, how they dress, who they hang out with and what music they listen to. Entire cultures and sub cultures are created through this but there is such a fine, often hard to distinguish line between these genres of people, and this raises issues.

A deep, war like mentality has evolved from some unnamed and indistinguishable almost racist hate for other genres. For example, a lot of people who aren't emo, and even some of those who are and cannot admit slam this fore-said genre. There are obvious grounds for this, this sub-culture is one of the most fucked up things ever heard of, the music promotes suicide to an impressionable audience, as well as focusing completely of the negatives in life. As well as this the dress sense of the average emo is so completely unoriginal. Being a relatively young culture which has come into prominence in the last ten or so years it has taken on elements of Goth, Alternative, Punk and Hardcore culture, boiled them up and emerged with a disgusting, sludge like bi-product.
However, these people aren't damaging anyone except for themselves, so why does anyone care? It's not as though your everyday emo acts like a Nazi, roaming the streets and beating in black peoples noggins, nor does he or she read these cliché and dark poetry to any old random in the street. Whatever the case many people find it hard to distinguish emos from other genres of people (they're the ones with the AFI shirts and The Used fleeces guys) and frequently enforce their racist-like hate on completely the wrong people ie. Myself.
Perhaps the best option is to treat what you believe to be an emo alone. After all the scene fairly well exists on self pity and teenage angst, which, by targeting these people, you are only increasing. Treat your local emo like a snake, they don't tend to bite unless you step on them.
