Binge & Purge began as a DIY cut-and-paste job metal zine, bypassing the industry bullshit and cutting straight to the heart of what really matters: metal, and the RIFF! We truly believe that metal’s increased fan base over the last few years need not coincide with the death of the genre’s artistic integrity. There are a million bands out there who slay balls AND would never sign on to Ozzfest. They just don’t know a better way to gain mass exposure than to risk selling out.
This is where Binge & Purge comes in. We seek to be the venue through which deserving bands gain fans and exposure without needing the crutch of catering to the mainstream. We review every CD we buy, and every CD that gets sent to us, whether we like it or not, so that you’ll know what you’re buying ahead of time. We review every show we throw and every show we go to, so that whether you’re a booker, a promoter, or a concert-goer, you’ll know if you’re getting a fair deal. We interview artists in bands we love, and we shine the spotlight on those we think deserve it. We do not pander to marketing demographics, guys in expensive suits and cheap cologne, or the mainstream media’s illusory metal imagery. That kind of stuff makes us nervous, because when the curtain is drawn, at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of dorky, nerdy music lovers, looking to geek out over sweet tunes with the like-minded.
