Mine shows all attempts to get into my computer. Even as I'm looking, in a minute's time there will be like 3 or more attempts. No one ever gets through, though. From what I understand they send out a ping to your computer, looking for a way to get into your computer, and a firewall rejects the ping. I have heard rumors that some hackers can get past a firewall, but I am not sure if that is true.
Hackers can get through Firewalls too if they are really good at it I heard once. Can't say if its true or not but it makes me wonder. I have 2 Firewalls just to be safe.lol
They do work. The first time I got one was because of this site I used to go to. There were some who were hacking into the site and booting people off of the site through whisper boxes. (used for private chat) Anyway, when they would do this, it would make your hard drive whirl like crazy, and you would completely freeze up. The only thing you could do was reboot. When I heard about firewalls, I downloaded one. Right away, as soon as I got to that site, warnings came up that someone was trying to use a Trojan Horse to get into my computer. I started to announce outloud that I had this program and that it gave me the ip of location of the attempts, and what do ya know...the warnings stopped showing up when I was at that site. When they were trying, and didn't know that I had a firewall, I wasn't getting booted anymore.
let me give ya a little clue in. firewalls are there to protect you from viruses and hackers and the virus protection is total BS cuz even with me and about 5 other of my friends we have gotten viruses through our firewalls. and as for hackers yes getting through a firewall isnt a problem at all. firewalls in esence are there just to give you a false sense of security.
If that were true, then wouldn't the creator of the firewall have to make up all the attempts that are coming to your computer? And fake all the blocks that they say they are doing? I mean, there is an outrageous amount of activity whenever I check how things are going. There is also a web site where you can put the ip of a computer and get the location. I did this, and I found the ip's that were attempting access were real.
Generally, anyone who actually has the knowledge to hack. For one, wouldn't be stupid enough to alert you about it before they did it. And two, they wouldn't carry on about what they were going to do. THEY'D JUST DO IT. That kid is full of shit, he's probably on google right now typing in "how to hack" and getting nowhere. Just get a good firefall, like by Norton. And ignore him.
Haha I see we have quite a few doubts going on here. Listen, I'm not here to brag about my "elite hacker skills". This whole situation started simply because Jozeroh is an idiot. Haha please....... I've spent my entire highschool career studying Network/Internet/Net-BIOS security, and I'm getting ready to attend R.I.T to study computer systems engineering next fall. I dont feel the need to prove my abilities to anyone other than myself. Jozeroh is a fucking douchebag, period!
In reply to Kidfabulus2, yes....generally speaking hackers tend to be very modest/secretive. But you see I'm not a hacker, BUT Jozeroh is an asshole. I alerted Jozeroh about my plans...........so what? If I do in fact decide to persue this fully there is ABOSOLUTELY NOTHING Jozeroh can do about it!!! As for the comment about being on google typing "how to hack" please........... spare me the newbie bullshit lecture.
Also, to end the whole firewall issue. Firewalls ARE NOT secure. A simple DOS or NetBIOS attack can disable the most common firewalls easily.
