I just started watching this massive shoujo cliche-fest, and bloody hell is it addictive. I swear I started it like, yesterday, and I'm already over halfway through. There really is nothing about this show that is all that special objectively speaking, but I just can't stop watching it. I'm really glad I waited until the series was completely subbed, I remember the subbers being pretty slow with releases - the wait would have killed me. Basically, it's a standard cliche'd reverse harem, with a music competition as a backdrop. So if nothing else you get to listen to some nice classical music, as well as have your eyes melted by the constant blizzard of sparkles, blossoms and bishies. Meet The Bishies: Here are the 5 gorgeous guys which our heroine, Kahoko Hino, cute, honest and all-round great gal, has to choose from. Len Tsukimori: He's cold and aloof, the violin virtuoso. Has family issues and seems to be sloooooooowly becoming less frosty to the world at large. He's a front-runner in the battle for Kaho's heart. My guess is that he'll win, if the fact he's always at the front and/or first in the opening and ending sequence shots. Ryoutaro Tsuchiura: He was that kind of not-quite-friends but not-quite-anything-more guy she knew before the competition. They get along great and clearly kind of like each other, but is it a romantic kind of like? He's the other main side of this amazingly ordinary love triangle! He was hiding the fact he's a genius pianist for reasons as yet undisclosed! Kazuki Hihara: Energetic, cheerful, the very embodiment of the word 'genki' but in a cute way. In case you hadn't worked it out already, Hihara is my favourite, even if he doesn't really stand a chance, due to his personality's close resemblance to a labrador puppy. Unsurprisingly, he plays the trumpet, and is the only one thus far who's really aware they're in love with Princess Kahoko. He's just so cute, even though he doesn't really act like he's older than her at all. Azuma Yunoki: Prince Charming heir to a massive fortune, but with a justified Dark Side. He plays the role of model student and Mr Wonderful, but is really a bit of a prat. This is predictably due to Family Issues - hey, they can't have one of the bishies being *really* evil - they're just messed up! I'm sure at some point he'll be helped by Kahoko into becoming a good guy for reals. At present, not really taking part. 1 year older than Kahoko. Keiichi Shimizu: Sleepy, slow, softly spoken cellist. The least likely to win the Fair Maid's heart, and also the most annoying, due to his half-asleep speech pattern. He's also younger, so he was really never in the running to begin with. There are other bishies, and other female characters, but they're mostly wallpaper. Shoko Fuyuumi is very moe though, and not in a bad way, but she's not really a potential rival at all. If you're in the mood for a silly, empty-headed shoujo series, this is great fun. It's got the right amount of drama and twists, even if they are incredibly predictable. The art is very nice, and the soundtrack is as well.
So i have been watching this like nonstop for 10 episodes already and must i say.. Its kinda boring , but., i cant stop watching it. I am just gonna finish it to get some nice classicals to copy on piano. Aside from that i must say Nodame Cantabile is by far better though
You see what I mean? This show is really nothing special at all, but you just can't tear your damn eyes away. I'm nearly done with it now, and I have to say, I'm loving all the melodrama, and all the angsting and brooding the bishies are doing. My dear little Hihara needs a hug, STAT.
Of course Nodame is better, that's obvious. This is a reverse harem show based on a girls' dating sim, Nodame is based on a multiple award winning josei manga - which has the better material? This one is so shallow and silly, but I'm really glad I picked it up, it's a wonderful guilty pleasure.
Another thing is that it keeps me busy while there arent any customers to deal with at work. Me alone , with company pc + internet = Anime streaming for 8 hours while getting paid for it.
ok so i just finished watching la corda d'oro ... lemme tell ya ... IT SUCKS. just stomached it because i wanted to . Never more shall i watch that again. Nodame Cantabile is strictly better.
Yeah, even I was losing patience with it by the end, but still, for something that has no redeeming features, I loved it. Shoujo anime is so bad it's good.
